Novice Boys Coach

Coach Beckman is a 1978 graduate of FDR High School. He rowed for FDR from 1975-1977 under coach Vertullo and Coach Sanford. Coach’s father (George) rowed for FDR 1952-1953. His daughter Gianna rowed from 2011-2016. Coach Beckman has been a coach with the novice program for 5 years. He also helps the FDR fleet with boat or oar repairs when necessary. You can still find Coach Beckmann rowing after the scholastic season on the Hudson in a single or 8 with various FDR alumni.
